In 2020, when we began harvesting our Wagyu beef, the packaging label we submitted to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP) simply stated “Beef,”followed by the specific cut of meat contained in the package.
In 2024, we decided to update our packaging to include the term “Wagyu” along with the specific cut. This required us to submit a new label to DATCP for approval in April 2024. To support this update, we provided a report from the DNA testing we perform on every animal we raise. This report verified that every animal classified as Wagyu on our farm has a minimum of 50% Akaushi genetics.
Finally, in early September 2024, we received approval for the updated label, which now states “Wagyu” along with the specific cut inside. Whether your package says “Beef” or “Wagyu” on the label, rest assured that both contain the same high- quality Wagyu beef we offered from the beginning and are proud to offer moving forward.
